I can't wait for the "Third World" album to come out. It's good to hear a perspective other than some baller swagger-jacker shit. The culture is bigger than that.

Kidz In The Hall - The In Crowd

Educated Consumers - Write Hear

Blueprint - Blueprint Vs. Funkadelic

Legendary B-boy Frosty Freeze from the Rock Steady Crew passed away April 3, 2008. His contribution to the culture and preservation of hiphop was unparalleled. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Pay your respects to a true b-boy originator. RIP Frosty Freeze

This is some real ATL shit right here! If you don't know who Dj Shortee is, she is the best goddamn female Dj in the world. If you went to the Art Institute in the late 90's then you would remember her cutting it up during all the school functions (memories) and ciphers. Can someone get her and her husband Faust back to the A to show all these wannabe Djs how its done. Let's make it happen!

...it's because I grew up listening to this

Go All Out (feat. Charlie Murphy)

I was on the Nah Right blog and I was reading a post about the "media" calling Kidz In The Hall, "Hipster Rap". I don't in any way shape or form would categorize these dudes as "hipster rap". They've been around since 2006 (you slept on their album "School Was My Hustle" when I told you to get that shit) and are currently signed with Duck Down....you know home of the Original Gun Clapperz: BlackMoon, Smif N Wessun, Heltah Skeltah etc to all you "black hipsters" (peace to Mosi). If you wanna call that "hipster rap" then you're smokin crack!!!!

Here is what Double-O has to say about it (courtesy of whateversgood.com):

How do you feel about the term hipster rap? Do you feel it applies to you?

Double-O: No. Because the definition of a hipster is a, well, I don’t know what the original Wikipedia definition was when they used it back in the ’50s, but now it’s become a very pretentious title. It defines somebody who may or may not really be attached to the art form, but they just like it because it’s kind of ahead of the curve or it’s cool. So, I think that all it is is another definition, trying to define a sub-genre of music that they just haven’t figured out how to define yet. That, really, to me, that’s the buzz on music going around right now. I don’t call it hipster rap, there’s a lot of different types of stuff going on, it’d not just hipsters that like it. It just so happens that the bloggers and some of the more forward-thinking people are up on it.

Buy their last album and get with the program

Here's video of Lil Wayne getting hit with a bottle at a show in London. The crowd goes buckwild and pelts him with mad shit when he tries to end the show. You gotta understand the international hiphop crowd don't play that shit. Keep that down south crap on your block, not in someone elses country.

I've been looking for this single for a minute. It is the single for "Vital Nerve/8 Steps To Perfection" (Official). I had it for a quick second back in like 99 but I traded it for a Sir Menelik record (?)

If any vinyl heads out there reading this post has this single on wax, contact me via email at khanart@gmail.com

Get Busy feat. Dice Raw, Peedi Crakk & DJ Jazzy Jeff

Black Thought is a beast!!!

You need this album! Y Society is the duo of Insight and Damu. If you aren't familiar with Insight, you've probably remember him from numerous collabos with fellow Boston emcees Mr. Lif & Edan. He is also a member of Electric Company. Damu the FudgeMonk is a DJ/Producer from DC. He was also the DJ for the group Panacea. Listening to this album is such a breath of fresh air especially amongst all the crap that you hear now. If you love great boom bap, lyrical hip hop then you'll love this album. Buy it dammit!

"How Many Of Us"

Here's a throwback from Insight, "Rap Religion" (hidden track on "Updated Software")

Make that money before you serve that 3 1/2 year bid!

(the beat is crazy!)
